Samsung has an image problem, and even that has only improved in the last few years.
You may think so, but it's not what you think it is. I travel globally and Samsung is very well thought of in the many countries I do business with.
In addition they are not easily replaced as a component supplier. Apple benefits from their quality, high volume capacity, and very good pricing.
I'm not married to either, but I am intimately knowledgeable of their respective operations. They have a mutually beneficial relationship. It would hurt Apple to lose them.
Apples not stupid, just posturing for mind share. Its an American cultural thing. Samsung understands that, thus they are slashing back. Apples working hard to spin this so they look like the victim.

Well finally we might actually see decent image editing on the iPad. I can't imagine this being anywhere as great as Photoshop on a real computer anytime soon, but the iPad should be able to run something like Photoshop 7 or CS without any problems thanks to the CPU power and RAM it has. If they just made it touch sensitive somehow, or added stylus or external tablet support somehow, that would be awesome.
I doubt there really is the need for a totally rewritten app here, as it will lack 99% of the good features in Photoshop (Liquify, robust Type tool, Curves, etc...).

You don't pay for updates, Tweetie 1 had 7 free updates. Updates within the 2.0 version number will also be free. Same as EVERY piece of software for the desktop.

Why doesn't Apple bring a TV to the market? I could go for a 72 inch flat screen with the aluminum, thinness,and 1/16th inch thick bezel of the iPad2.

Probably cause they want to shakedown all the non-unlimited messenger customers with a new tiered messaging structure.
Perhaps, this new feature isn't a bad deal with A-List, etc.
Now if I had only more than 1.5 bars and an iPhone that didn't go toaster hot (not cylon) :D when I try to use it on the first floor of my home.
So when do you think the LTE Microcell(s) will arrive? [off topic]

What is a TIMG tag, and how do you do it? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to derail this trainwreck of a thread.
A TIMG tag will reduce the size of the image and make it clickable so you can see a larger version.
Unless you're working on a tiny laptop screen the images do not extend past the normal width of the forum.

My phone is on its last leg, dropping calls all of the time, have to charge it 3 times a day. If I had known this, I would have already bought a 4...
As someone with a Silver Grey ZHP, I say to you 'life is too short' to be frustrated over such matters. My iPhone 3g s died last week and I too resisted buying the iPhone 4 since I really was waiting for the iPhone 5. Well, I had my iPhone 4 for a week now and I love it. It is leaps and bounds over my 3g s. The Retina Display is drool-worthy (as drool worth as my '04 Silver Grey ZHP:)) and the improved phone signal is worth the upgrade. The iPhone 4 is a very capable phone that I believe I did get my money's worth (even as the iPhone 5 is schedule to arrive sometime within the next several months).
If you are that frustrated over waiting to buy the 'latest and greatest'-well there are bigger things to get upset and frustrated over (althought I must admit I do share your pain).
As some wrote earlier on this thread-I also believe that this 'spec race' will not last too long-software will become more prominent.

That's what growl does? I've only ever seen/ heard about it in the Proteus message boards
All it does is to provide a service for applications to notify users of events.
Like using an applescript that Growl provides, whenever I get a new email i'll have a bubble pop up informing me which account received a new email, who is it from and the subject title.
As I said you'll have to try it to love it. And check out their list of applications that use growl. ;)

And snide remarks doesn't negate it. I understand that the concept is scary for you and people who think like you. I do hope that you can learn to adapt to our changing world. Since those of us who are currently Iphoneless AT&T customers we have to go to AT&T stores and was wondering if anyone is interested in camping out at the colesville road store next to trader joes? Torturing would never be a good action, but it is like killing someone to defend yourself, killing is bad, but the result of killing saved your life.
In the case of torture, it is the government defending its people (country). If it can be avoided better, but I would rather authorize torture instead of letting attacks happen.

But there is absolutely no guarantee or, to my knowledge, no proof that torture results in any useful intelligence whatsoever. And killing someone to save your own life is defending yourself. Not sure how torture could ever be considered an act of self-defense.
