The proximity sensor was the problem all along and is a complete redesign on the white phone.

Hmm, that would be interesting. Let's see what iFixit will say about that.

This is a great offer. But how about unlimited calls to any states in the US? I think it would be very good for a subscriber who wants to call anywhere in the US. thanks.

Again, have you read the thread? I wasn't aware, "It costs more to execute someone than keep him in prison for life," was a "bleeding heart emotional response." I also didn't think, "It's impossible to be 100% certain," was emotional either. Funny, to me, these arguments seemed pretty fact-based. The only one with an emotional response is you, demanding blood.

It's impossible to be 100% certain is a crap response, because in many cases it is 100% certain, and i've named a few already. Also, the whole financial issue is very debatable and i don't think anyone here has solid figures on it. The only reason it may cost more to execute someone is because of all the appeals and court costs, this can easily be fixed so execution is the most economical way. I'm not going any further into this because my stance that some people are unworthy of life won't change. Peace out girl scout.

I referred to this case in the human versus animal value thread when a few posters said that any human life has more value than any animal. They would save the life of either of these guys over any animal.

Are you frickin kidding me? I didn't participate in that thread and now i'm glad i didn't. Funny you mention it though, because i just watched this video and it brought tears to my eyes. Watch it, it shows how animals are more humane than some humans.

Its never a good thing when the guy behind the reason we buy Mac's leaves. :(

Maybe. Maybe it won't matter at all. People who "manage" are not the people who actually "do". Unlike the common beliefs, those products are team efforts and not the brain children of a single person.

If OS X stops being good, we can still use Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris or even Windows. Ubuntu Linux might not be as "awesome, magical, beautiful" as Mac OS X, but it has become an amazingly great - and FREE! - operating system, so I'm not in the least concerned about the future of OS X and Apple. My life doesn't depend on the products of that company in Cupertino.

It can just play it but some frames are dropped. I only consider a system capable if it can play a video without dropped frames and with at least 10% CPU to spare.

    Other very possible factors:

-your 9700 GPU is both better than my 6200 and runs on an onboard AGP 4x vs my AGP 2x.

-10.4 vs. 10.5 would definitely make a difference in terms of 720p h.264. 10.5 taxes the GPU a lot more than 10.4 when core image support is there like both of our systems in question.

-system bus and memory are 67% faster in your PB

A 1.8GHz 7448 is certainly more powerful than a 1.67 7447 so the reasons above are what I would equate the differences to. A quick example.. my CPU score in xbench is as high as 96 yet my overall score has never been higher than 63. Geekbench score on my 1.8 is 1127.

Thats what I suspected, since mine can play 720p at 65% CPU under 10.4 and approx 85-90% under 10.5 (10.5 is an empty install on there though, since I prefer the speed of 10.4 on my G4s - Its just there so I can use my PowerBook as my main troubleshooting 'book). Im still surprised you haven't worked out a miraculous way to get a ATI Radeon 5770 in your G4 :p - My CPU in xBench is 87, so there is a bit of a gap. My overall score is... 74, which I guess explains it.

    Yet another Notes hater here.

I first came across it at work in 1992 or so, back with version 2. We used it for our customer support and sales databases, and the company were still using it in 1999 when I finally left them. By then they were also developing a web-server product based on the current Notes webserver component, and re-launched the company around this product, floating the company to obtain extra venture capital. It was quite frankly the worst performing web server I'd ever seen, and the company folded when the money ran out.

As part of supporting this junk product I had to pass a Notes exam. For that I learnt how Notes mail handled multiple copies of the same large attachment within multiple mailboxes. I forget the full details, but there was a nightly process that ran through the mail database and consolidated such attachments. It was a horrible mechanism. The previous mail system I came from handled this in a far simpler way by simply using hard links.

A collegue once ran the then current Notes release under the debug version of Windows 3.1, and had never seen so many reported errors in code.

I'd also had to integrate Notes (version 4 I believe) into another E-mail sytem via a gateway at a customer. Configuring SMTP to an external source under Notes was a pain, and it took 3 'engineers' about 4 hours to try all of the combinations before we could get it to both send and receive mail.

I've come across Notes a few times since then. Still horrible.

I just don't understand all these Notes haters and their anectodal stories.. I'm not trying to flame or argue... but only have a reasonable discussion..

You had a bad experience in 1999... Since version 5 came out in early 1999 you were likely on version 4.x. Notes has come a LONG way since then. This is like hating OSX because you had a bad experience with OS7 or System7 or whatever it was called. The webserver in those days was basically the FIRST version of it in the product. It was probably the internotes component.. you're right it probably wasn't very good back then.. The whole internet thing was jsut really taking off back then...

I haven't done much with shared mail which is what you're referencing regarding the attachments but again in the EARLY days it was something that people on notes.net said was not perfected.. Again it's a lot better now..

Notes is NOT going to cure cancer.. similar to Visual Basic it get's a bad rap because it's a RAPID APPLICATION development system. It's also easy to learn. Many Notes developers started out with no prior programming experience. As such not all notes apps in the early days were written very well. But do you know what's cool? All of those applications will still RUN on the latest version. There's no microsoft rip and replace business here. But is that really an advantage? I think so but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe companies really like to re-write existing applications because they will no longer work because Microsoft want's to do something "different"..

It's sad that we live in a society where actors, pop/rap stars, sports stars, etc. get paid mega bucks while professions like "school teacher" get paid peanuts.
Acting is hard. You only need to witness bad acting in one movie to understand this. For every A-list star, there are tens of thousands more out of work, because competition is tough and dependent on luck, too. But mostly, it comes down to supply and demand. I have no problems with actors getting 20 million a picture, they worked hard and there are only a handful of them, anyways.

    luv ya bunches, x0x0x0

Being that it is open source and easy to modify and write on we have many things. Android now powers eReaders, TVs, Video games, and even a microwave

I see you still haven't had the common decency to TIMG tag your charts. As for debate with you? Why bother, it's the same thing every day with you. You just copy and paste the same things.

Unless you're working on a tiny laptop screen the images do not extend past the normal width of the forum. Relax yourself and realize that the images are very easy to read, very adequately sized, and focus on the content of the thread. If they were all TIMG'd then everyone would have to click on each individual image to actually consume the content of the chart. Furthermore, knowing you, if I had TIMG'd them, you'd probably be complaining that you can't read the fine-print anymore and that I was somehow attempting to be misleading by not making the fine-print visible enough for you to analyze.

The trouble is in true authoritarian style you present charts from various right wing/big business sources (complete with oversize type and charts, which as you know is the equivalent of shouting, not the best way to start a discussion) and present them as "truth" thereby establishing your own rules,no room for any debate on options. What the U.S. is going through is "end of empire" get used to it and adapt or die.

Right wing big business sources like the Congressional Budget Office, the White House Office of Management and Budget and the Census Bureau? (all sited as sources in the fine-print of the graphs) Puh-lease! If you think the charts are wrong, which exact components are wrong? Can you post the right graph? And where will those graphs get their data from which you consider to be more reliable than the organizations I listed above? Talk about a straw man. You're willingly ignoring the problem and pretending it doesn't exist because if it's real... then common sense would dictate that we have to make cuts to the welfare/entitlement programs you hold so dear.

And in the 14,298 other threads in which people have brought up OTHER solutions to reduce deficit/debt, you pull the same crap. So don't start with that. You are one of the biggest pots in a sea of black kettles.

Unless the solution is cutting SS, Medicare, or Medicaid, or any myriad of programs that actually help people, you and your ilk want nothing of it. You want more cut taxes for wealthy and less tax and regulation on business. Period. To you, that is the ONLY way to move forward.

It's understandable that rich people don't want programs that help people, because they themselves don't need help. Hopefully, you don't plan on needing Social Security or Medicare/Medicaid when you are older, and i'm sure your parents are good without it either. If they need assistance, you will cover them, I'm sure.

I know you WANT to give your solution... you're so close... c'mon... say it: "I think we should drastically increase taxation on wealthy Americans to fix this problem."
What I want to know is how exactly you expect businesses to grow jobs, expand operations, etc. in this type of situation. It seems fairly clear based on the facts that A) this wouldn't be near enough money to solve the problem B)that the end result in the long run will almost certainly be less growth, fewer jobs, and less government 'revenue' than before. C) that you'd kill what chance we have left at regaining a strong economy as large businesses would do whatever they could to get their assets in locations of lower tax burden.
