How many people here would change their mind if the white one was released with upgraded specs (A5 chip)? I'll probably end up getting one for my wife because she's wanted one since launch.

Adium, Netnewswire lite, Romeo, KTA Tennis, Mactracker, Poisoned, Skype, VLC, MPlayer...
MS Office :D (oops)
It would be useful (this is not addressed just to you, Amigo) if instead of just listing a bunch of programs you gave a quick description of what each program does, like AL did in his original post. Links would be helpful, as well.

Personally, I think this thread is screwed unless it gets enough posts to start a new page so that the chart load can be skipped.

I'm not gay, but I take offense to the idea of equating homosexual activity with "sleeping with hookers, and intravenous drug users". Just because someone is gay doesn't mean they sleep around, just like someone who is straight doesn't just sleep around. This is something that you should probably reflect on, in that gay people can be just as likely or not to sleep around and behave in risky ways as straight people can.
I don't think the person you are responding to was equating homosexuality with anything. If you've ever given blood, which I have many times, you would know that you have to fill out a form every time which asks you questions based on relatively high-risk behaviors, including sex-for-money, intravenous drug use, and male-to-male sex. That doesn't make them equated and I see nothing in Socratic's post that would imply s/he felt they were.

Jobs is a bloody populist and a charlatan. A genius, undoubtedly. An aesthete (in visuals, certainly not in music!), but a cheat nevertheless The most skillful cheat in existence.
Wow, "Check out the big brain on Brad!" (Pulp Fiction reference)I honestly had to look up the word aesthete. When you have conversations with people, do they look at you with glossed over eyeballs?

Here's mine, I modified a fairly plain wallpaper picture I found.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4137/4884629800_92ee54d8c3_b.jpg
Here's the background if you want it. Sorry, I had to up the jpeg compression quite a bit to make it small enough to upload. Oh you also have to strech to fill it as it's a weird proportion, but there's plenty of pixels so you aren't stretching.

Just been to Vodafone UK store in Paddington. They had two white iPhones ready to be sold on PAYM contracts, boxes on display. Looks like launch day is today!

I smell an impending cease and detest letter from Apple. This is of course the email above is legit.
That's a lot of cease and desist letters going out to ebay then as well. Theres no law against reselling items in your store whether its an Apple item or something else.

Best one in years...too bad they didnt release ilife though
I, too, was expecting iLife 07. I've got two gift cards just waiting to plunk down toward the purchase of a new Mac Pro. Besides iLife, I was hoping for a Mac Pro refresh, including a better graphics card, and the dual quad-core option, so the prices of the other processors would fall.

The problem with text entry boxes in (so far as I can tell) every single browser out today, is that they are fixed width. I can have a nice big 30" monitor and want to be able to type a paragraph about this size in a single friggin' line of text across the whole monitor (more common is trying to convey source code in a text window; wrapping really sucks for source code). But, I can't, because the text box is default sized so that it fits without scrolling on my mother in law's 10-year-old 15" CRT set at 640x480. So, it's a little postage-stamp square on my 30" cinema.
Unfortunately this is more of an issue with the designers, and not the technology. It's quite easy to make a textarea that resizes with your site design (unless the site is fixed with... but any site that heavily relies on user input generally is not.. and should not be). takes a few width: 100%'s, and you're good to go.
Now of course, that only deals with horizontal scaling. But hey, try making a post here, and click on those up and down arrows in the top right of the input area.

A diesel Polo would be great for my commute. I'd be all over that.
That's why you can't have it.
Millions would feel the same, and "we" can't have that, now can we?

I think .Mac is great, and this sneak peek gets me a somewhat excited. Having said that, I thing the .Mac service needs a LOT of work. I mean let's really look at what it offers: a cool email ADDRESS "somebody@mac.com", full usage of the Backup app., secure iChats, groups, and iWeb publishing, and this for $99 a year. WOW!
Ok, listen! .Mac gets me about as hot and bothered as an egg salad sangwich, I got suckered into it about 2 years ago when Apple was offering subscriptions for a discounted price on the day after Thanksgiving. I remain subscribed and probably will as long as the service is offered but it is practically featureless in it's current form. You know what I really want to see first off .Mac apps like a .Mac iCal or maybe a .Mac TextEdit, how about new Fonts available only to .Mac members, and .Mac Widgets (like once promised). And then the price, the price needs to come down a bit maybe $59 a year.

Break it!? More like make it.
I love life in the melting pot, it's the one thing I really miss about living in London, there's just a degree of culture clash that you don't get outside of the capital.
I'm in London now and enjoying the mix of people. Nothing wrong with immigration and other people, "culture" isn't something that must be rigidly protected.

The Post Your Mac Set-up thread has all the links to the previous threads.. How about we do the same for here? Just incase you want it. It's interesting to see the desktops throughout the years. I'm such a geek.
Man, Mac OS looked horrible back then. Even below 10.4:eek:
