Stephen Colbert on comedy central has turned out to be one of the most influential persons in the media. Along with Jon Stewart, Stephen is supposed to be one of the influencers of young minds for the last congressional elections.
I am not sure if he has really taken any stance on legal immigration. I am confident that it is favorable.
A question is whether IV has really approached Stephen. Lately, I saw Jack Welch on the show. Apparently, every congressmen who appeared on Colbert's show has won the last election.

You new employer can file for H-1B change of status for (upto) 3 years since you have I-140 approved and your PD is not current. The fact, that I-140 was applied by current (or ex) employer, does not matter.

the best thing he could do is get married ASAP may be tomorrow and file I 485 for him and his wife together otherwise he will be in very bad situation. If in OCt his PD is current he will get stuck as he can not sponsor wife for a long time. and if there is severe retrogession than he will not be able to bring his wife to US unless hisnon-immigrant visa is still valid( still his wife would be in danger of being out of status)....So act NOW

I just got my H1 visa and thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate that. I now actually got some questions about the port of entry. As my understanding that they will stamp my passport at the port of entry, I wonder if they will keep my current I-797 at the port of entry (I already have the H1 stamp in my passport). Pls advise. Also, I don�t have the bottom portion of the I-94 on I-797 since I am currently in Malaysia . Would this be a problem? Please also advise if they will issue me the new I-94 at the port of entry. Anybody pls help. Thank you very much.
keep the 797 with you. you may be asked for it at the port of entry - but it will be returned to you. that is your work authorization approval notice
you will get a new i94 - make sure the date on the i94 matches the date-valid-until for the h1b visa.

We need more attention. Economy and all., they are going to be there, but I am sure US doesnt want to loose by delaying it. These are our years where we can contribute. They dont want to send some of us back and invite us at 55-60 years as dependents on our citizen children.

Lucky you!! Mine was filed on Jan 5th and still waiting!!
I think the labor certification is slowing going back to 2 years approval time including PWD. 3-6 months for PWD and 1 year to 2.5 years for Labor.
My lawyer ('s assistant) told me yesterday that the PWD's are taking 6 to 8 weeks to come back. 8 weeks have past now, didnt really want to force the issue though as it's not just me that's waiting.
i have until July 1012... Hopefully enough time for my PERM approval...

This is the wrong forum for you to ask this question. However, I know that (c)(9) is not correct on line 16 for your wife's case. (c)(9) is only for Employment Based GC applicants.

All our employers have to know this. The kind of employers who pushed for more greencards for EB1, 2 and 3 during S 1932 have to know this. Please circulate this to your employer, other recruitors/employers who want to have more access to foriegn born employees in high-skills area.
Hard cap has flown below the radar and its our job to spread awareness. Send the PDF file(on homepage) to all the people you know.
The worst case scenario is that with the hard cap, if the good things are elimination in the conference committ.(Very likely) then we will be worse off than we were last year. we will all get greencard on or around the graduation day our our children's high school and we will be driving hydrogen fuel-cell cars by that time.
